Dog Point Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 28-Oct-2015
Brilliant, light straw-yellow colour, pale edged. This has a full, gently voluminous nose of ripe gooseberry, green stonefruit and tropical fruit aromas entwined with subtle spice elements and complexing flinty minerals. This is fresh and bright, the aromatics growing in breadth and concentration in the glass. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the flavours of green stonefruits and gooseberries are richly sweet and mouthfilling. Fresh herbs, spice notes and complex flinty minerals lend a balancing dryness to the flavours. The wine is even and open, but has weight and depth. The mouthfeel grows to show subtle phenolic textures complemented by a suggestion of unctuousness. Vibrant acidity lends liveliness and tension, and carries the wine to a long, smooth, rich and harmonious finish. This is a soft, mouthfilling Sauvignon Blanc with gooseberry and stonefruit flavours complexed by flinty, minerally detail. Match with salads and vegetables, and Mediterranean fare over the next 2+ years. Fruit from 8 vineyard sites in the Lower Brancott, Renwick, Fairhall, Omaka and Rapaura sub-regions, WBP and fermented in tank with 20% by indigenous yeasts to 13.5% alc. and 2.9 g/L RS, the wine is aged 60 days on lees. 18.5/20 Oct 2015 RRP $24.50
