Even, dark ruby-red colour with slight purple hues on rim. The nose is elegantly concentrated with a deep and densely pack core of ripe black cherry fruit entwined with a complex amalgam of red berries, savoury whole bunch herb elements, a touch of oak toast and a suggestion of minerally reduction. The bouquet builds in depth and richness with aeration. Medium-full bodied, a gently concentrated and deep core unfolds a complex array of flavours. Dark red cherry and berry fruit, savoury dried herb and whole bunch stalky nuances, dark fresh thyme herbs and minerals all provide intricate and interwoven detail. The fruit is supported by positive, fine-grained tannin structure and underlined by excellent acid poise and tension, all integral and balanced. The wine carries to a very long, complex-flavoured finish. This is a concentrated, well-proportioned and poised Pinot Noir with a complex array of flavours and fine structure. Match with coq au vin, and grilled and roasted game meat dishes over the next 7-9 years. Dijon clones 115, 777 and 114 indigenous yeast fermented with 26% whole clusters to 13.4% alc., the wine spending 4 weeks on skins and aged 12 months in 26% new French oak. 930 dozen made. 19.0+/20 Jun 2014 RRP $46.00 Dark, even ruby-red colour, a little lighter on rim. The bouquet speaks of elegance and a cooler-spectrum of expression with red fruits along with red floral and herbal nuances, revealing savoury whole bunch layering. Medium-full bodied, the palate opens with full and sweet dark red cherry fruits and vibrant plum notes, and floral elements. This is elegant and relatively refined in texture and structure, with very fine-grained tannins carrying the flavours. The acidity is balanced, and as the wine flows, complex savoury whole cluster spice and herb nuances grow, and the extraction becomes more prominent. The whole bunch component quite integral, but enriching the interest with some air time. Elegant and medium to medium-full bodied, beautifully sweet black cherry and berry flavours reveal spices and whole cluster herb and stalk interest. Lovely florals lift the palate and add to the youthful freshness. The acidity is in perfect balance and adds to the vitality and energy as the flavours flow to a very refined, youthfully primary-fruited, succulent and long finish.
