Distant Range Hawke’s Bay Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 07-Feb-2014
Very dark, deep ruby-red colour with lighter, youthful purple hints on rim. This has a full, soft and broad bouquet of ripe dark cherry and cooked strawberry fruit intermixed with savoury herbs and spice notes at the core. Medium-light bodied, flavours of ripe, stewed black cherry and strawberry fruits are detailed by savoury mineral and dried herbal flavours. The palate has good depth and acid balance, and the flavours are supported by grainy tannins that provide a dry textured mouthfeel. The tannins lead the palate to a dry finish with black fruit and savoury spice notes. This is a ripe, cooked black-fruit flavoured Pinot Noir with a grainy, textured palate. Serve with rich pasta dishes and coq au vin over the next 3 years. Hawke’s Bay fruit fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine matured in tank and French oak barriques for 9 months. 16.0+/20 Feb 2014 RRP $22.00
