Di Gresy ‘Martinenga’ Barbaresco DOCG 2008

Nebbiolo from Italy - Piedmont
Review Date : 30-Jun-2012
Moderately deep, garnet red with some bricking on edge. This is very elegant and fragrant on bouquet with red florals, spice notes and oak lift, the aromas quite refined and near ethereal. Elegantly proportioned, luscious red fruits with notes of cherries and liquorice are supported by very fine-grained tannins. This is fresh and bright from good acidity. The wine finishes with lengthy tar and spice nuances. 6-8 years of development. Fruit from the ‘Martinenga' site fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged in barrique for a few months then in 25 hl Slavonian oak for 12 months. A suspicion this bottle may have some TCA. 18.0/20 Jun 2012 RRP $125.00 Nebbiolo from the ‘Martinenga' site, 14.5% alc., the wine aged in barriques for a few months then large casks for 12 months. Ruby-garnet colour with orange hues, this has a firm, brackish nose with densely packed and concentrated aromas of savoury red berry fruits with notes of undergrowth and forest floor. Full-bodied, this has sweet and lush berry fruits, clean and bright, and underscored by fine-grained tannins that grow to become a significant feature. Fruit sweetness remains, with some oak spice. This is a modern style Barbaresco with finesse. Keep 8-12 years.  18.5-/20  May 2012
