Devil’s Staircase Central Otago Pinot Noir 2016

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 09-Feb-2017
Deep, dark ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is fresh, bright and up-front with uncomplicated primary fruit aromas of dark raspberries and dark cherry fruit along with subtle thyme herb notes. The aromatics have depth. Medium-bodied, the palate is sweet and rich with dark raspberry and black cherry fruit entwined with light thyme herb notes, forming a concentrated heart. The flavours ae up-front and are underlined by light, supple tannin extraction lending accessibility to the mouthfeel. The acidity is balanced and the wine flows smoothly to a light, soft finish of cherries, herbs and whole berry jam nuances. This is an up-front Pinot Noir with sweet flavours of dark raspberries, cherries, jam and herbs on an easy, accessible palate. Serve with antipasto, tapas, poultry and pork over the next 3+ years. Central Otago fruit fermented to 13.5% alc., and bottled without oak influence. 16.5+/20 Feb 2017 RRP $29.99
