Devil’s Staircase Central Otago Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 09-Feb-2017
Bright, light straw-yellow colour, a little lighter on the edge. The nose is soft and light with uncomplicated aromas of white and yellow stonefruits, along with nuances of exotic florals and hints of herbs, honeysuckle and minerals. Medium in sweetness and medium-bodied, the palate has up-front flavours of white and yellow stonefruits gently melded with soft honeysuckle element. The wine is accessible, the sweetness lending a degree of richness, and the mouthfeel is rounded with soft textures and enlivened by light acid freshness. The flavours carry to a light, drying finish with subtle stonefruit and honied flavours. This is an up-front, uncomplicated medium Pinot Gris with light stonefruit and honeysuckle flavours and a dry finish. Match with Asian cuisine over the next 2+ years. Fruit predominantly from the ‘Dustbowl’ site near Parkburn, tank-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 14 g/L RS. 16.5/20 Feb 2017 RRP $25.99
