DeMorgenzon ‘DMZ’ Stellenbosch Chenin Blanc 2017

Chenin Blanc from South Africa
Review Date : 10-Jul-2018
Bright straw-yellow colour with pale golden hues, lighter on the edge. The nose is initially taut and tightly bound with intense aromas of white and yellow florals and subtle notes of citrus fruit and hints of refreshing herbs and minerals, along with flinty lees detail. This grows in depth with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate has a fine and firm core of white and yellow stonefruits and fragrant florals along with citrus fruit notes and nuances of flinty, minerally lees. This has richness, detail and balance. The mouthfeel is fresh and lively and has underlying power and drive, and the wine flows smoothly with a very fine-textured line, leading to a lingering, elegant finish. This is a very finely concentrated, well-driven dry Chenin Blanc with floral, stonefruit and flinty lees notes on a fresh, lively palate. Match with seafood and pouktry dishes over the next 4+ years. 100% Chenin Blanc from bush vines, Stellenbosch, WBP and indigenous yeast fermented in stainless-steel and seasoned oak to 14.31% alc. and 2.7 g/L RS, the wine aged 4-6 months on lees. 18.5/20 Jun 2018 RRP $25.00
