DeMorgenzon ‘DMZ’ Stellenbosch Chenin Blanc 2016

Chenin Blanc from South Africa
Review Date : 20-Oct-2016
Brilliant pale straw-yellow, near colourless on the rim. This has a very refined, intense and focussed nose with aromas of pure, waxy white florals and white stonefruits along with nuances of pears, fresh piquant herbs and minerals. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is crisp and tight with racy acidity enlivening the flavours of white florals and stonefruits. Subtle pear, honey, herb and mineral elements unfold from the firm core. The steely acidity provides good drive and linearity, and the wine is guided by a light, dry-textured, mouthwatering line leading to a lingering zesty finish of white florals. This is a tightly bound, crisp and racy, mouthwatering Chenin Blanc with white stonefruit and floral flavours with waxy, mineral elements and fine, dry textures. Match with seafood over the next 3-4 years. Stellenbosch fruit, WBP and fermented in stainless-steel and seasoned French oak to 14.0% alc. and 2.5 g/L RS, the wine aged 3-6 months on lees. 18.0+/20 Oct 2016 RRP $30.00
