Deliverance Waipara Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 04-Apr-2016
Garnet-red colour with some depth, lighter on the rim with slight brick hues. This has an elegantly presented nose with soft and gently rich aromas of savoury red berry fruits entwined with complex dried herb and subtle game and earthy notes. Ethereal, lifted red floral and nutty oak elements emerge with aeration. Light-medium bodied, the flavours of savoury red fruits are soft, plush and up-front, and harmoniously melded with layers of dried herbs, earth and undergrowth. The mouthfeel is fresh from lacy underlying acidity, and the fruit is supported by light, supple tannin extraction. The wine carries to a light, moderately lingering finish. This is a light, up-front, gently rich Pinot Noir with flavours of savoury red fruits and a supple palate. Match with pasta, risotto, and wild duck and pork over the next 2-3 years. Dijon clone fruit from Omihi hillside sites, indigenous yeast fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine aged 18 months in French oak. 1,225 cases made. 16.5/20 Apr 2016 RRP $26.00
