Delas Ventoux 2011

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 09-Dec-2012
80% Grenache and 20% Syrah from the Mazan and Goult communes fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine bottled without oak contact. Dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, light crimson hues on rim. This has a soft, full and voluminous nose of perfumed raspberry fruit with confectionary and jammy whole-berry notes, along with garrigue herb underlay. Dry and medium-bodied, warm and rich raspberry, jam and lollyish fruit flavours fill the mouth from a good core and heart. The mouthfeel is soft, with rounded grainy tannin textures, the low acidity adding to the plumpness. Some alcohol is apparent, driving the palate to a long, raspberry jam flavoured finish. This is a soft textured, up-front, raspberry fruited Grenache-based red to serve with pizza and barbecued food over the next 3-4 years. 15,000 cases made. 17.0+/20 Dec 2012 RRP $16.99
