Delas ‘Saint Esprit’ Cotes du Rhone 2010

Syrah from France - Rhone
Review Date : 09-Dec-2012
Full, dark, deep ruby-red colour, a little lighter on edge. This has a tight and restrained bouquet with a good dense core of ripe black and dark red berry fruits entwined with earth, minerals and oak spices. Fullish-bodied, the fruit expression is subdued, but the palate has good presence and vinosity. Ripe black fruits and spiced raspberry elements emerge in the glass, the flavours framed by fine, mouthfilling tannin textures. The wine has harmony and good line, leading to a gentle, dry finish with spice and liquorice nuances. This is a well-balanced and fine-textured Cotes du Rhone with subdued fruit. It will come out of its shell and drink well for 5-6+ years. Serve with Mediterranean inspired fare. 90% Syrah and 10% Grenache from granite soiled vineyards near St. Julien and St. Alban in the northern Ardeche, fermented to 14.0% alc. with approx. 30% of the wine aged in oak. 37,500 cases made. 16.5+/20 Dec 2012 RRP $20.99
