Decibel Martinborough Pinot Noir 2016

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 14-Apr-2018
Dark ruby-red colour with garnet hues, showing good depth, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full with a packed and rounded heart of ripe dark-red and black cherry and berry fruits along with an amalgam of dark herbs, violet florals, savoury earthiness, unfolding black plum elements. Medium-bodied, the palate is finely presented with rich, juicy and vibrant, but stylishly restrained flavours of dark-red cherry and berry fruit, intermixed with plums and subtle notes of savoury dark herbs and a little earthiness. The mouthfeel is enlivened by lacy acidity and the fruit is supported by light, fine-grained tannin extraction and supple grip. The fruit forms a tight core and line, and the wine flows with good energy to a long, elegant finish. This is a stylish Pinot Noir with vibrant dark-red berry and plum fruit and subtle earthy and herb notes on a supple, lively palate. Match with roasted lamb, beef and venison dishes over the next 5 years. Pinot Noir fruit from ‘Brodie Estate’, fermented with 10% whole bunches to 13.0% alc., the wine spending 3-4 weeks on skins and aged 10 months in 10% new French oak barriques. 18.0/20 Apr 2018 RRP $31.99
