Decibel Hawke’s Bay Viognier 2016

Viognier from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 23-Oct-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour, lighter on the rim. The nose is fresh and finely concentrated with aromas of exotic yellow florals and yellow stonefruits with citrus zest and apricot notes in a gentle and harmonious amalgam, unfolding fragrant floral and musk elements, and subtle herb notes. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is fresh crisp, lively and vibrant with rich flavours of citrus zest, tropical fruits and lifted yellow florals along with musk and herb elements. The mouthfeel is brisk and refreshing and the palate follows a light, grainy phenolic-textured line, flowing with vigour, underlined by fine acidity. Some alcohol drive emerges and carries the wine to a bright, fresh, lifted finish. This is a crisp, lively, vigorous and rich-fruited Viognier with lifted florals and citrus zest flavours on a grainy-textured palate with some alcoholic drive. Match with Asian fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the Bridge Pa Triangle, given 8 hours skin contact and fermented in stainless-steel to 13.8% alc. and dryness. Yet to be released. 17.5/20 Oct 2016 RRP $20.00
