Decibel ‘Amplified’ Hawke’s Bay White 2014

Blended White from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 23-Oct-2016
Full, even light golden-hued straw-yellow colour, lighter o the rim. This has a full and broad bouquet of savoury citrus fruits melded with nutty yeast lees and autolytic elements, and a subtle layer of oxidative notes. The aromatics form a firm, but rounded core. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied the palate has a firm heart of savoury white and yellow stonefruits and citrus fruits lifted by some floral zest notes and melded with a complexing layer of nuts and flinty lees that unfold and fill the mouth. The palate combines fruit richness with fresh acidity and the mouthfeel has energy and tension, the wine flowing along a fine-textured line, unfolding nutty, oxidative notes. This has freshness and liveliness, and carries to a lingering finish with some dry grip.. This is a distinctive and complex flavoured Chardonnay-based wine with strong nutty lees and an oxidative layering, some floral lift, fine-textures and freshness. Match with poultry and pork over the next 3-4 years. 90% clone 95 Chardonnay from Bridge Pa, and 10% Viognier from the Dartmoor Valley, vinified separately, the Chardonnay seeing batonnage and 50% MLF. The wine is 13.5% alc. and dry, seeing no oak. Under 270 cases made. 16.5+/20 Oct 2016 RRP $22.00
