Debussy ‘Reverie’ Pays d’Oc Cabernet/Syrah 2016

Blended Red from France - Other
Review Date : 13-May-2018
Very dark, deep, near impenetrable black-red colour with slight purple hues, youthful in appearance. The nose is softly full and well-packed showing plenty of presence of ripe dark-red and black berried fruits and dark plums harmoniously melded with fragrant dark herbs and suggestions of lifted, nutty oak, unveiling some earthy detail providing a little interest. Medium-bodied, the palate has rich, sweet and juicy flavours of ripe dark-red and black berried fruits with plum notes. The fruit is succulent and is underlined by light, supple, grainy tannins. The fruit forms a good core and has mouthfilling presence, with soft acidity enhancing the richness. The wine carries positively to a plush, weighty finish. This is a soft, plush and juicy Pays d'Oc Cabernet/Shiraz with ripe fruit flavours and supple tannins and good mouthfeel and weight. Match with barbecued and roasted red meat dishes over the next 3+ years. A blend of 50% each Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 6 months with French oak contact. 17.0+/20 May 2018 RRP $22.95
