de Vine Nelson Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 09-Aug-2012
Full, light golden-yellow colour with some depth. This has a softly full nose of ripe tropical and citrus fruits with buttery MLF notes, still quite tightly bound, and concentrated. Medium-bodied, this is up-front with a good core of citrussy fruit revealing layers of butterscotch MLF flavours and nutty oak. The palate is rich and smooth with a round, creamy mouthfeel and balanced acidity adding to the line and drive. The deep flavours carry through to a sustained finish of tropical fruits and butter. This is an up-front, smooth and buttery Chardonnay with citrussy fruit flavours. Serve with roast chicken and pork over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from Nelson, WBP and barrel-fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 80% French oak, one-quarter new, and 20% American oak, one-fifth new, the wine aged on lees, and 80% undergoing MLF. 500 cases made. 17.5/20 Aug 2012 RRP $17.99
