Brilliant, light golden-yellow colour, lighter on edge. The bouquet is full, powerful and deeply concentrated with aromas of ripe tropical and exotic fruits, apricots and savoury citrus zest, integrated with nutty oak elements. This has plenty of presence and intensity. Full-bodied, the palate is fulsome and solid in expression with densely packed flavours of ripe tropical fruits, apricots and citrus zest. Some alcohol power drives the wine, and along with balanced phenolic textures, provides mouthfeel and weight. Nutty oak elements emerge, adding layers of interaction and interest, and the wine carries to a full, strong, flavoursome finish. This is a fulsome, bold and generous Viognier with weight, power and drive. Match with poultry, pork and veal over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘HCE’ vineyard, WBP, with one-third tank-fermented, one-third undergoing hyperoxidation and one-third oxidatively handled, the latter two barrel-fermented, to 14.5% alc., the wine aged on lees. 853 bottles made. 18.5-/20 Jul 2015 RRP $40.00
