Selected MS04012 fruit from the ‘Syrah Terrace’ of the ‘HCE’ vineyard, from 11 y.o. vines, fermented to 13.3% alc., the wine undergoing micro-oxygenation and spending 30 days on skins, then aged 14 months in 50% new French oak barriques. Full, dark, deep, purple-hued black-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is firm and tightly concentrated with aromas of ripe black berried and plum fruit, along with liquorice, Asian spices and black minerals. The aromatics are tight and precision, unveiling violet perfumes, nuances of reduction and oak char with time in the glass. Medium-full bodied, a tightly concentrated core of ripe blackberry and plum fruit is complexed by minerals, spices, black florals and reductive nuances. The fruit is supported by very fine-grained tannin extraction and grip, and follows a vibrant line, revealing iron-earth and a hint of tar, leading to a long, lingering, elegantly dry finish. This is a tight and elegantly concentrated black-fruited Syrah with mineral notes and a fine-grained structure.
