Clone 95 fruit from the ‘HCE’ vineyard, hand-picked, WBP, 40% indigenous yeast, fully barrel-fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 40% new French oak barriques with batonnage and 40% MLF. Full, moderately deep, light golden-yellow colour, paler on the rim. This has a very full, broad and voluminous bouquet of ripe tropical and citrus fruits melded with nutty oak and sweet barrel-ferment notes. The aromatics are bold, deep and concentrated. Medium-full bodied, mouthfilling flavours of ripe citrus fruit form a rich amalgam, layered with sweet, nutty oak and creamy elements. The wine is open and accessible, and rounded in texture, flowing smoothly and harmoniously with underlying alcoholic power. Fine-grained phenolic textures and fresh acidity balance the richness, providing an underlying line and vitality that carries the wine to a strong, long and sustained finish. This is a mouthfilling, accessible, lively Chardonnay with ripe citrussy fruit and nutty oak, and plenty of power.
