de la terre Hawke’s Bay Noble Viognier 2013

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 20-Jul-2015
Bright golden-yellow colour with good depth, lighter on the rim. This has a concentrated and deep nose with opulent aromas of ripe apricots entwined with exotic yellow florals, crystallised fruits, ginger elements and honey. A little volatility lifts the aromatics. Very sweet to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate features a softly concentrated and rounded core of ripe exotic tropical fruit, orange zest, apricots and honey. This is opulent and luscious with smooth, unctuous textures that fill the mouth with weight and presence. The acidity is soft, enhancing the palate richness. Complexing savoury and nutty elements emerge and carry gently to a long finish of apricots and orange zest. This is a soft, opulent, weighty and unctuous Noble Viognier with exotic and savoury apricot and citrus flavours. Serve with baked desserts and blue cheese over the next 5+ years. Hand-picked Viognier fruit at 34° Brix, from the ‘HCE’ vineyard, 90% botrytis affected, cool-fermented in tank to 13.0% alc. and approx. 125 g/L RS. 660 bottles made. (375 ml) 18.0-/20 Jul 2015 RRP $34.00
