Moderately deep red colour with garnet hues, lighter on the edge. The bouquet is light and harmoniously melded with aromas of savoury red berry fruits, dried herbs, undergrowth and secondary mushroom notes forming a soft core. Medium-bodied, the palate is evenly presented with softly sweet red berry fruits alongside savoury earth and dried herb flavours, and complexing undergrowth, mushroom and game elements. The fruit is underlined by elegantly firm, grainy tannins and the mouthfeel enlivened by crisp, lacy acidity. The flavours are carried to a moderately sustained finish of savoury red fruits and undergrowth. This Pinot Noir is showing secondary savoury red fruit, dried herb, mushroom and game flavours on a firm, brisk palate. Match with mushroom pasta and risotto dishes over the next 2 years. Fruit predominantly from Dixons Creek, Tarrawarra and Yarra Glen, partially hand-picked and fermented with a portion of whole bunches to 13.0% alc, the wine given oak contact. 15.5/20 Sep 2016 RRP $16.99
