Dartmoor Road Hawke’s Bay Merlot/Cabernets 2009

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 16-Sep-2011
Fruit from the Dartmoor Road site, 69% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc co-fermented, and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon blended. 14.4% alc., the wine was aged 26 months in 28% new French oak barrels. Dark ruby-red colour with some purple hues, the nose is soft and full with good ripeness of fragrant red berry and plum aromas, with whole-berry like characters, along with plum jam and milk-chocolate notes. Medium-full bodied, the palate features milk-chocolate lactic flavours with soft dark red berry and plummy elements and some oak cedar forming a moderately dense core. The textures are soft and rounded, the tannins and acidity well-integrated and harmonious. Match with most red meat dishes and firm cheeses over the next 5-6 years. 17.0/20 Sep 2011 RRP $35.00
