Dartmoor Road Hawke’s Bay Merlot/Cabernet Franc 2008

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 16-Sep-2011
Ruby-red colour with some depth, this has an elegant, attractively fresh nose of lifted, aromatic red berry fruits, moderately ripened, showing some fresh herb nuances. Medium-bodied, the palate is fresh and lively with bright and juicy red berry and redcurrant fruit flavours along with herb notes forming a good core. The tannins are modest, with suppleness and in good balance, as is the acidity. The wine finishes with crispness and elegance. A single-vineyard co-fermented blend of 73% Merlot and 27% Cabernet Franc at 13.9% alc., the wine was aged 17 months in 25% new French oak barrels. Showing cooler aromatic fruit, drink this elegant wine with Mediterranean fare over the next 4-5+ years. 16.5+/20 RRP $28.00
