Darling Cellars ‘Premium’ Darling Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

Cabernet Sauvignon from South Africa
Review Date : 07-Aug-2013
Dark deep, black-hued ruby-red colour. The nose is densely packed with ripe fruit aromas of blackcurrants and dark plums with some liquorice notes. The oaking is prominent with sweet, cedary notes. Fullish-bodied, this is densely packed with ripe fruit flavours of dark plums, blackberries and liquorice. The flavours are sweet, lush and the mouthfeel plush with supple, rounded tannins. Oak cedar and spices are prevalent, and alcohol warmth and generosity drives the palate. The acidity emerges and tannins firm up on the finish, and the oak shows resiny notes. This is drinking well now, but will keep 4-5 years. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Groenekloof, Darling, fermented to 14.36% alc., the wine aged 15 months in new French oak. 17.5/20 Aug 2013 RRP $27.50
