Dandelion Vineyards Lioness of McLaren Vale Shiraz 2019, Australia

Shiraz from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 15-Dec-2020
Deep, inky-purple with little transparency, lighter edged. The nose is full, well-packed with intense aromas of plums, blackberry jam, melded with eucalyptus, pine and black peppercorn. Full-bodied, a sense of dryness on the palate underlying alcohol power; aromas of mulberries, plums has an elegant core, unfolding blueberry liqueur, pine and violet, along with black peppercorn, nutmeg and cinnamon nuances lend a sustained dry finish. They gently extracted fine-grained tannin integrated with the fruit and providing structure; acid balance is on point. Notes of pine and eucalyptus broaden the dimension of flavour profile and added interest. Although the alcohol is high, the wine has immense balance. This is a full-bodied blue-shades-fruited Shiraz with fine details of spices and pine on a fine-grained structure. Match with herb-crusted lamb chops over the next 5+ years. Handpicked, whole bunch fermented with ambient yeasts to 14.5% alc. Aged in new and older French oak for 18 months. Unfined, unfiltered. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Dec 2020 RRP $30
