Dancing Water ‘Tokorima’ Waipara Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 20-May-2012
A barrel selection, fruit from ‘Blacks Avenue' vineyard, hand-picked, destemmed and indigenous yeast fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged in 40% new oak. Full, deep, dark ruby-red in colour with some purple hues. The nose is full, solid and densely packed with savoury dark-red berry fruit aromas with notes of meat and earth, unfolding notes of leather, dark herbs and lifted oak spice. Full-bodied, the wine is brooding with understated richness. Flavours of dark plums, earth and spicy, cedary oak show sweetness, but are framed in a well-structured palate with considerable extract. The tannins are fine and have suppleness and feature on mid-palate, leading to a sustained, dry textured finish with savoury dark fruits and earth. This is a solidly constructed Pinot Noir with richness that will unfold over the next 6-8+ years. Serve with slow-cooked game meat. 17.5+/20 May 2012 RRP $45.00
