Dancing Water ‘Kamaka’ Waipara Riesling 2009

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 20-May-2012
Fruit from the Glasnevin gravels, hand-picked, WBP and indigenous yeast fermented in stainless-steel to 12.9% alc. and 3 g/L rs, the wine aged on lees. Brilliant straw-yellow with lemony-green hues to the colour. The nose is intense and concentrated with tightly bound aromas ofwhite floras, limes and lemons, flinty reduction, smoke and minerals. Given some air, the reduction dissipates revealing good purity. Dry to taste, this has concentrated flavours of minerals, wet stones and subtle lime fruit. The fruit is still undeveloped and youthful, the tightness allied to powerful drive and a slight phenolic thread that adds to the sturdiness and depth. Brisk acidity combines with a chalky texture on the finish which features some sweet fruit and minerality. This is a concentrated and youthful dry Riesling that will develop with greater interest over the next 5-6 years. Match with seafood. 255 cases made. 17.5/20 May 2012 RRP $28.00
