Hand-picked fruit, indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc., and aged in seasoned French oak. Dark, deep, black-red colour, lighter on rim. This has a firm and intensely concentrated bouquet of well-ripened black berry and cherry fruits, and dark plums with lifted violet florals, notes of spices and cedar. Fullish-bodied, firmly concentrated, but sweet fruited, ripe black fruits and plums form a deep core, revealing oak spices, cedar and earthy chocolate nuances. The flavours are framed by significant tannin extraction providing a firm and driven mouthfeel, with good acidity for energy and freshness. The tannins carry the concentrated flavours to a long and sustained, firmly crisp finish. This is a concentrated, black-fruited Pinot Noir with plenty of firm extract to see it develop over the next 7-9 years. Match with slow-cooked game meat and hard cheeses. 18.0/20 Mar 2013 RRP $29.95
