Da Vinci Chianti Reserva DOCG 2008

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 21-Mar-2012
Full, near-impenetrable black-red colour. This has a soft, full and well-integrated nose, with red cherry fruit, cedary oak and layers of spices all interwoven harmoniously. Medium-full bodied, softly rich and lush flavours flow across the palate, with red berry fruits, cedar and brown spices featuring. Soft, supple tannins support the richness and the acidity in the background. The oak is a little more prominent on the long finish. This is a smooth and lush Chianti, the cedary oak a little to the fore. It will match slow-cooked red meat dishes over the next 4-5+ years. 85% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot, 5% Syrah, Canaiolo and Colorino, from co-op vineyards around Vinci, fermented in stainless-steel vats to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in French oak barriques. 17.5+/20 Mar 2012 RRP $30.99
