Da Vinci Chianti DOCG 2012

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 16-Sep-2014
Dark, black-hued ruby-red colour with some garnet on rim. The nose is softly packed with aromas of savoury dark cherry fruit seamlessly infused with earth and leather, revealing herbs and funky game-like notes with aeration. Medium-bodied, sweet fruit flavours of savoury cherries, game and earth are underlined by balancing, softly drying, grainy tannins. Lacy acidity lifts the up-front fruitiness and lends energy. As the wine flows, the flavours recede to a funky finish with game-like notes. This is an up-front Chianti with savoury cherry fruit and gamey flavours. Serve with pasta, pizza and barbecued dishes over the next 3 years. 90% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot from the Vinci and Cerreto Guidi districts, from vines 15-20 y.o., fermented to 13.0% alc., 15% aged 6 months in new and seasoned American oak. 16.0/20 Sep 2014 RRP $20.99
