Cypress ‘Terraces’ Hawke’s Bay Viognier 2008

Viognier from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 16-Mar-2011
Fruit from the ‘Terraces' site, fully barrel-fermented to 14.5% alc. and a dry 3 g/L rs, then aged approx.. 12 months in oak. Bright light straw-yellow in colour, this has a rich, full and opulent nose of apricots and exotic florals with oak toast. Full-bodied and full-flavoured, this is warm, plump and dense, yet has racy acidity keeping the wine fresh and mouthwatering. The oak spiciness is a major component here, but is becoming rapidly integrated with the rest of the componentry. This will be a good match with Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine over the next 3-4+ years.  Mar 2011
