Cypress Hawke’s Bay Merlot 2014

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 04-Nov-2016
Dark ruby-red colour with light purple hues on the rim. The nose is moderately concentrated with fir aromas of dark-red plum and berry fruit at the core with nuances of nutty oak and a suggestion of minerally reduction. Medium-bodied, the palate possesses light flavours of dark-red berry fruit along with cranberry and plum notes, fresh dark herbs and nutty oak. The flavours form a moderately deep core with modest tannin extraction and structure. The mouthfeel is enlivened by fresh acidity providing linearity which carries the berry and plum flavours to a lively acid finish. This is a light red berry and plum fruited Merlot with herb and nutty oak, modest extraction and fresh acidity. Serve with antipasto, pasta and pizza over the next 3 years. Hand-picked fruit fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine aged 26 months in 25% new French oak. Lot L0802. 16.5-/20 Nov 2016 RRP $22.00
