Cuvee du Vatican Chateauneuf du Pape 2009

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 17-May-2012
75% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre and 5% Cinsault with other varieties, the wine aged 12 months in foudre. Very dark, deep hearted black-red colour, this has a full nose of ripe red and black berry and plum fruits, dark herbs and red floral lift. The palate has good concentration and tightly bound dark red berry fruit flavours supported by firm extraction. The fruit and expression is brightened by good acidity, adding a juiciness to meet the tannin grip. The tannins are fine-grained. Sweet Grenache fruit with oak spices and hints of funky game show on the finish. This will keep 7-9 years.  18.0+/20  May 2012  RRP $54.00
