Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 23-Jul-2024
Moderately deep ruby-red with a purple hue. The nose is gently full and poised, with aromas of black cherry, plum, delicate floral and spice. Medium-bodied, aromas of black cherry and plum entwined with cherry blossom, cinnamon, nutmeg and cocoa powder. The spices are well-proportioned and refined, melded with cocoa and reminiscent of black forest cake. Dusty, supple tannins leave a silky linger. This Pinot Noir is well-made and elegant with a silky, black forest cake expression. Match with glazed ham and pork tenderloin over the next 5 years. Fruit from Ballochdale vineyard, Awatere Valley, handpicked and machine-harvested fruit fermented with a small portion of whole bunch in open fermenters, aged in used and seasoned oak. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Jul 2024 RRP $30
