Bright straw-yellow colour, lighter on the rim. This has a tight and fresh nose with a core of rich, savoury passionfruit aromas along with steely green stonefruits and soft, fresh herbs. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the flavours of savoury pungent passionfruit are initially reserved, but build to show green stonefruit, tropical fruit and mouthwatering mineral notes. The mouthfeel is rounded with a light, soft-textured grip lending dry linearity. The acidity is balanced and provides good energy, and the flavours are carried to a lingering, textural finish of passionfruit and herbs. This is a soft passionfruity Sauvignon Blanc with some textural grip. Serve with salads and vegetables and Mediterranean fare over the next 2 years. MS clone fruit from the Wairau, vines planted in 2001, cool-fermented in tank to 13.5% alc. and <1 g/L RS. 1,825 dozen made. 16.5+/20 Oct 2016 RRP $14.00
