Crown Range Cellar ‘Drowsy Fish’ Waipara Riesling 2015

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 06-Jul-2016
Bright straw-yellow colour with green-gold hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full and gently packed with layers of lime fruits entwined with wet stone minerals. The aromatics are rounded in presentation, unfolding exotic citrus fruits tangerine zest and florals. Medium in sweetness, rich, luscious and piquant flavours of oranges, tangerines and limes intermingle with an array of florals, honeysuckle, minerals and toasty complexities. The mouthfeel shows firm concentration, the sweetness balanced by fine, granular textures and soft, lacy acidity. The rich and exotic fruit is underlined by some power which carries the citrus flavours to a long and rounded, finish. This is a rich, up-front and bold, exotic and luscious medium Riesling with an array of citrus fruits, some grainy concentration and underlining power. Match with mildly rich and spicy Asian fare over the next 4 years. Hand-picked fruit from Waipara, fermented to 12.5% alc., 23.1 g/L RS, TA 7.74 g/L and pH 3.22, the wine aged on lees. 18.0/20 Jul 2016 RRP $49.99
