Crossroads ‘Vineyard Selection – Mere Road Vineyard, Gimblett Gravels’ Hawke’s Bay Cabernet Franc 2009

Cabernet Franc from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 01-Jul-2011
Full, dark, deep, ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues. This has a dense, powerful nose of very ripe black plum and berry fruits along with some portiness. The nose is broad and warm and shows some alcohol. Very full-bodied, this has a mass of very ripe, sweet, black fruits and spicy, cedary oak. The palate is plump, rounded and dense, with the heat from the 15.0% alc. noticeable. The wine possesses significant extraction which contributes to a very long and flavoursome finish. A wine taken to the full ripening and enriched with strong oaking, this will match casseroles, lamb shanks and hearty red meat dishes over the next 6-9 years. Cabernet Franc from the ‘Mere Road' vineyard in the Gimblett Gravels. The wine was aged 14 months in 58% new French oak barriques. 18.0+/20 Jul 2011 RRP $45.00
