Cristom ‘Sommers Reserve’ Oregon Pinot Noir 2007

Pinot Noir from USA
Review Date : 03-Aug-2011
A selection of the best barrels for the ‘Mt Jefferson' blend, incorporating around 50% whole bunches in the fermentation, sitting at 13.5% alc. Light ruby-red colour with light purple hues, this has a fresh, dark red berry fruited nose complexed with aromas of dried and fresh herbs. Medium-full bodied, this combines flavours of dark red berry fruits with herb and brown stalk, and savoury spice flavours, all showing good depth and density. The wine is framed within a firmly tannic, still-to-harmonise palate. The initial fruit sweetness yields to dryness and grip, with crisp acidity. Violet florals show on the finish along with the extraction. A wine that can match powerful red meat dishes over the next 5-7+ years.  Aug 2011
