Cristom Eola-Amity Hills Oregon Viognier 2008

Viognier from USA
Review Date : 03-Aug-2011
Made from vines planted in 1999, wild yeast fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged around 10 months in seasoned French oak with partial MLF, is bright straw-yellow colour with pale green hues on edge. The bouquet softly fresh, with restrained, ripe apricotty aromas, clean and clearly expressed. Dry and full-bodied, this has bright and lively, crisp apricot fruit flavours along with minerals, flint and nuances of steel. Excellent acidity is present, providing a cool raciness and ‘cut'. The brisk style allows a little alcohol heat to show. This fresh, crisp wine should continue to develop over the next 3-4 years.  Aug 2011
