A deftly-handled, subtly-complex Sauvignon Blanc, the fruit from the company's ‘Te Muna Vineyard' was 85% destemmed and fermented in both stainless-steel and French oak barriques, of which 5% were new, to 13.2% alc. and 3.0 g/L rs. Bright straw-yellow with pale green-gold hues to the colour, this has a gentle, but intense and deepish bouquet of fresh herbs and ripe currant fruit along with nuances of sweet and spicy oak. Dry on palate, the wine carries a rich breadth and full, open presence, showing ripe herb and earthy spice flavours. The acidity is soft and allows the wine to finish with a richness and lusciousness. A wine to match with salads, vegetables and lighter Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3-5 years. 18.5-/20 Jan 2011 RRP $22.95
