Craggy Range ‘Te Muna Road Vineyard’ Martinborough Pinot Noir 2006

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 22-Mar-2013
Moderately dark and deep garnet-red colour with a little bricking. This is very evenly presented on nose with attractively integrated aromas of soft red fruits with floral lift, and some complexing oak spice and game nuances from secondary development appearing. An elegant wine on palate, the flavours are balanced, harmonious and well-integrated. Soft red berry fruits reveal a little herbal lift, with subtle cedar and spice elements that meld together. Fine, grainy tannins build and along with noticeable acidity, the oak becomes more prominent, leading to a very long, lingering finish. This has the balance to develop another 5-6 years. Described by Steve Smith as a "benign vintage” that was reticent initially. This had come together well, with attractive balance and elegance. 18.5+/20 Mar 2013
