Craggy Range ‘Te Muna Road Vineyard’ Martinborough Pinot Noir 2002

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 22-Mar-2013
Even, dark garnet-red with bricking, lighter on rim. The aromatics are light and slender with fine and integrated forest-floor, bramble and cool, stalky notes, along with game meat and oak cedar. Elegant in size, secondary and tertiary flavours are expressed, with meat, earth, bramble and forest. The tannins are fine, but beginning to dry the fruit sweetness, but there is good acidity and energy. The palate is showing a little attenuation and linearity, and leads to a dry, earthy, herby finish. The sweetness is receding here, but this is clearly varietal and with plenty of flavour interest. Drinking now. The first release of a ‘Te Muna Road Vineyard’ from Craggy Range. 17.5+/20 Mar 2013
