Craggy Range ‘Te Muna Road Vineyard’ Martinborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 10-Nov-2014
Bright, very pale straw-yellow, near colourless on edge. The nose is fresh and tightly bound with elegantly presented core of pears, stonefruits and exotic florals, along with nuances of spice, the aromatics piquant and growing in intensity with aeration. Dry to taste, light flavours of white stonefruits and pears are detailed with floral and spice elements. The palate has a softly concentrated heart and is smooth-textured with a slippery flow. Discreet background acidity adds to the roundness, and the palate possesses a balanced, underlying alcoholic drive, carrying the wine to a dry, lingering finish. This is a soft-textured and elegantly concentrated, dry Pinot Gris with subtle pear and floral flavours. Match with most white meat courses and Asian cuisine over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked Pinot Gris fruit from the ‘Te Muna Road’ vineyard, WBP and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.8% alc. and 2.7 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 18.0/20 Nov 2014 RRP $26.95
