Craggy Range ‘Limited Editions – Block 16’ Martinborough Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 22-Mar-2013
Clone 114 from ‘Block 16’ fermented with 100% whole bunch. Dark, deep, ruby-red with slight garnet hues, lighter on edge. The nose is very full and broad, but with density of aroma. Dark red berry and plum fruits infused with dried stalk whole bunch characters, dark herbs and hints of liquorice are packed on bouquet. Full-bodied, solid and concentrated, the serious extraction is the feature on palate and predominates on mouthfeel. There is plenty of bright, vibrant dark berry fruit flavour, with fleshiness, interwoven with the savoury stalk and foresty, dark-herb whole bunch notes. The acidity is restrained, lending to the rounded edges, and the solidness of the wine unfolds complex lifted floral and smoky nuances on the finish. This is a powerful, robust Pinot Noir with a focus on complexity through whole bunch flavour and structure. A wine for 5-7 years. 18.5/20 Mar 2013
