Craggy Range ‘Kidnappers Vineyard’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 03-Jun-2014
Very pale straw-yellow colour. The nose is soft with gentle and delicate aromas of ripe white stonefruits, expressed with purity, revealing nuances of wet stones, flint and white florals, the oaking essentially imperceptible. Ethereal nutty, oxidative elements add complexity. Medium-bodied, softly dry and distinctly elegant in proportion, the palate juxtaposes crisp acidity with seamlessly smooth textures. Restrained stonefruit flavours open to reveal hints of saline and seaside, butterscotch and nuts, and the palate builds in concentration, depth and richness. The flavours carry through to a very long, lingering integrated finish. This is a soft, seamless, and complete, fruit and terroir expressive Chardonnay. Drink over the next 4+ years. 65% hand-picked and WBP, fermented in oak cuves, puncheons and stainless-steel to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 8% new French oak barriques. 18.5+/20 May 2014 RRP $24.95 (To be released later this year.)
