Craggy Range ‘Gimblett Gravels Vineyard’ Hawke’s Bay Rosé 2015

Rose from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 28-Sep-2015
A blend of 74% Merlot and 26% Syrah, 26% hand-picked and WBP and indigenous yeast fermented in seasoned French oak puncheons to 13.4% alc. and dryness, the wine aged 5 months on lees. Bright, pale salmon-pink colour, very pale edged. The nose is fresh, elegant in proportion and tightly bound with concentrated aromas of pomegranate, quince and cranberries, lifted by subtle red floral notes and entwined with savoury, mouthwatering mineral hints. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is fresh, crisp and lively with brisk acidity providing a vibrant mouthfeel. The flavours of pomegranate, quince, strawberries and cranberries are near-delicate and a little restrained in expression. Some savoury cherry and mineral elements add detail. The wine flows with good acid tension, following a dry, thirst-quenching line, leading to a moderately sustained finish with red florals, cherry and minerally nuances. This is an elegantly fruited, crisp and refreshing dry rosé with subtle quince, pomegranate and cherry fruit, and savoury mineral nuances. Serve as an aperitif and with antipasto over the next 2 years. 17.5/20 Oct 2015 RRP $29.95
