Craggy Range ‘Gimblett Gravels Vineyard’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 08-Apr-2015
Bright pale straw-yellow colour, pale edged. The nose is fresh and elegantly concentrated with aromas of citrus and yellow stonefruits, complexed with harmonious layers of creamy, nutty barrel-ferment elements and subtle flinty detail. Medium-full bodied and elegantly presented, this has a refined and concentrated, deep core of citrus fruits and savoury stonefruits with detailed layers of nuts, oak and flint that unfold in the glass. The palate has succulence and richness underlined by very fine textures, and the wine flows with excellent acid freshness and vitality that carries to a very long and sustained finish. This is an elegantly concentrated, refined and detailed Chardonnay with the vitality to match most seafood and white meat dishes over the next 5+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Gimblett Gravels’ vineyard, WBP and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.8% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 28% new French oak barriques. 18.5/20 Apr 2015 RRP $31.95
