Coto de Hayas ‘’Vinas del Cierzo’ Campo de Borja Reserva 2012

Grenache from Spain
Review Date : 08-Aug-2016
Full, dark, deep ruby-red colour with black hues, lighter on the rim. This has a finely concentrated bouquet of ripe black berried fruits with notes of dark raspberries, pepper, minerals, and lifted cedar and vanilla oak elements adding an exotic edge. Medium-full bodied, the palate possesses a well-concentrated core of sweetly ripe blackberry and raspberry fruit entwined with spices and oak cedar and vanilla. The mouthfeel is juicy and lusciously vibrant, and balanced by fine-grained tannin grip and structure, with lacy acidity providing lively drive. The palate carries to a long and sustained finish with balanced fruit and tannins. This is a finely proportioned and well-concentrated Campo de Borja Reserva with ripe blackberry and raspberry fruit with sweet oak lift and a lively, well-structured palate. Match with roasted lamb, beef or venison, and with semi-hard cheeses over the next 5-6 years. From Bodegas Aragonesas. A blend of 86% Garnacha, 10% Syrah and 4% Mazuela, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in French oak barrels. 18.5/20 Aug 2016 RRP $29.99
