Coto de Hayas ‘Roble’ Campo de Borja Tempranillo/Cabernet 2017

Blended Red from Spain
Review Date : 04-Dec-2018
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is elegant in presentation, a little shy and slender initially, but unfolding to reveal a tight core of dark raspberry with dark-red and black berried fruits, with an amalgam of plums and savoury dark herbs and nuances of earth. Medium-full bodied, the palate has an elegantly presented, rich and sweet core with moderately concentrated, juicy flavours of dark raspberries, plums, red and black fruits. This is succulent and has balancing savoury herb and earth elements, the palate supported by light, grainy tannin structure with integrated acidity. The fruit carries to an elegant, lingering finish with fruitiness and vibrancy. This is a sweet and juicy Campo de Borja red with dark raspberry, black fruit and plum flavours with herbal interest on a light-structured palate. Serve with tapas, pasta, pizza and barbecued fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from Campo de Borja, a blend of Tempranillo, from vines 25 y.o. and Cabernet Sauvignon, vines 20+ y.o., fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 2 weeks on skins and aged 4 months in new American oak. 17.5-/20 Dec 2018 RRP $21.99
