Coto de Hayas ‘Roble’ Campo de Borja Tempranillo/Cabernet 2013

Blended Red from Spain
Review Date : 31-Aug-2015
Very dark, black-hued ruby-red colour. The nose is elegant in presentation with a firmly concentrated core of black-berried fruits entwined with subtle blackcurrant and fresh herbal notes, melded with a savoury, earthy underlay. Medium-full bodied, tight and finely bound fruit flavours of blackberries, blackcurrants and savoury green olives form a firm line. The fruit has dusty, nutty earthy and herbal elements which emerge in the glass. The mouthfeel is guided by fine-grained, powdery-textured tannins that lead the wine to a light, fresh, acid-influenced finish. This I a tight, dry, slightly dusty Tempranillo/Cabernet blend with herb and earthy notes. Match with Mediterranean beef salad dishes over the next 2-3 years. Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon from 25 y.o. and 20 y.o. vines respectively, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 4 months in new American oak barriques. 15.5/20 Sep 2015 RRP $21.99
